Feature Ingredient: Jalapeño
The jalapeño is a medium sized chilli pepper originating from Xalapa, Veracruz in Mexico. The pepper is part of the capsicum annuum family and hence resemble the taste of a capsicum; they are commonly used in Mexican cuisine to add flavour and heat, with a Scoville rating between 2500 - 10000 Scoville units; most of the heat concentrates in the seeds and veins of the pepper. Depending on the way the pepper is grown and prepared, the heat can range from mild to HOT. These peppers are used in a variety of ways: deep fried, breaded, stuffed, pickled and to make salsas and hot sauces, as we see today.

This was a lot fun to make - there's something so satisfying with mashing up avocados! It was also inexpensive as all of the ingredients are in season at the moment, i.e. it was easy to find everything in the super market. I really liked the taste of the guacamole, but I think it was a tad too sour, so make sure to keep taste testing your mix before squeezing the WHOLE lime into it. I also removed the seeds from the jalapeño because my heat tolerance is not that high, but make your guacamole to your tastes. Overall it was great and the colours look awesome too. It would be perfect for a starter or as a snack. On a side note, I've made an Instagram page, so check that out if you can. Hope you all make some guac!
