Apple & Banana Smoothie

Heather Mangieri, RDN,. 'Apples: One Of The Original Superfoods - Heather Mangieri, RDN'. N.p., 2014. Web. 20 Nov. 2015.

Feature Ingredient: Apples

Apples are iconic - there's the wicked witch's poisonous apple, the teacher's pet apple, the list goes on. What I'm say is that they are widely recognisable and very common too; apples are known for their bright red (or green) colours and their sheer variety (there's fuji, gala, granny smith, and golden delicious to name a few) - there are thousands! Apples are most commonly consumed raw, but also cooked (e.g. in pies, cakes etc) and in drinks (e.g. juice, cider etc). They contain various health benefits, after all, an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

As a person who doesn't really like eating apples, this smoothie is the perfect way to incorporate them into my diet. It is not only easy to blend up, it is effortless to drink because of how tasty and refreshing it is. This smoothie has a creamy taste (the bananas) without having an dairy in it! However, what I like best about smoothies in general is that they are so convenient and also filling - a perfect on the go snack. I hope you will try this recipe out!
